It's not supposed to snow in the south. It's supposed to be warm and sunny. Your neighbors are supposed to say, "Bless her heart" when they're getting in their pickup "fixin" to do the grocery shopping, filling their buggies with pecan pies and Coca Cola.
Your daughter who was born in New Hampshire should not have to run outside at 9:00 at night to dance in snowflurries, saying she's never seen SO MUCH snow.
Your new baby/car should not have to drive through it reminding you of every year in your youth where your car with snowtires but not chains always ended up in a snowbank, or off the road and once, skewered on a Pennysaver mailbox.
Your son should not have to make an iceball with dirt and dog doo rolled inside that is certain to melt all over the patio by noon.
And mostly, they should have called off school so we could have stayed in drinking hot chocolate and watching Blu-Ray movies all morning instead of poking at website designs and researching the cell phone choice made under duress (snow coming!) yesterday and now have to go back out in the ice and exchange for the Blackberry you knew you should have bought in the first place.

Looks sort of like a snow Pokemon. Is that fruit on it?
Heh. We had rain today -- which is totally ridiculous for Norway in January. Maybe we should switch?
Oh, and I am sending my kids over for some of Auntie Linda's salad.

Look at that wet, icy snowman!
It doesn't snow here.
Today it was mildy chilly outside (my concession is a sweater over a t-shirt) and people are bundled into ski jackets as if the frost is coming to claim them.
My eldest is New England tough still but my youngest was whining about wearing long-sleeves, then griping about freezing to death outside. (It doesn't freeze here.)
I said, geezer-like, "Missy, you don't know from cold! Why back in MA we had snowstorms that sometimes dumped eight feet at once! And we had to shovel it! By hand! Our hands! With shovels! You don't know from cold!"
And an actual elderly man who was leaving the church laughed his rear off at me. He was probably Canadian. ;)
oh. my daughter would be so thrilled if it snowed here! my husband would curse, though, I'm sure.
Oh my, that snowman is in fact the funniest snowman EVAH! We're in the midst of yet another blizzard. ACK.
Snow! In the South! What the?!
Yep. We got it too. And then the flippin' sleet and freezing rain and raining ice and whatever other flippin' made up words the weather geeks are using to explain why my kids had a SNOW DAY when we got like, no snow.
Um, sorry. THAT was a rant.
=)
I grew up in Arizona and once when we were in the mountains, I saw few flurries and I got really excited. After moving to Chicago at 10 the excitement wore off REALLY fast. Who knew it could hurt to be cold?
