15 minute blog

I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions. I Have NEW DAY resolutions. Like thinking I should be able to write a blog entry in 15 minutes or less. AND continue on the 1000 word a day novel writing. Deadline January 31.

So, my house is quiet again. Company gone, sick kid back in school, dogs asleep. Except for the sound from the laundry room, and the ticking clock on my desk, things are back to normal.

it was a good two weeks of stress. I am broke but happy and have some more memories and good stories. This is my dad trying to pick Dick Clark's nose.
The next day I let this same man drive my 2008 3.2 Audi TT quattro. But I DIDN'T let the 16 year old nephew. Instead I took him and my son to indoor laser tag and let them all run around the yard with silly string.

We went through a few hundred bucks worth of wine and beer and champagne, and no one died from my cooking ( all meals should take 30 minutes or less, right?) also, no family fights broke out and I am already making plans to travel to NY and see them again soon... thinking of AMTRAK instead of airlines though. Something about the sleeper car intrigues me.. and yes, sadly, it will be nothing like the European railcars I so love.

Also, beginning the search for a family vacation spot this year. Any suggestions?

Did I miss the post about your new car!??! Sounds niiiiiice.

All meals should definitely take less than 30 minutes. 15 would be even better....and I could suggest some European city destinations, if you're interested. If not, then there's always Hawaii. Ah. Hawaii.

Did you miss the news in October?
http://linda-sands.blogspot.com/2007/09/my-car-returns-favor.html

I really need some hot pictures of her...
as far as vacation: here's the short list-
Italy (Tuscany region) or Cinque Terre
Key West- other keys
Spain Southern or inland
Belgium/ surrounds
The kids haven't been to any of them and some will depend on how much time we get in June- July. I'd love any input.. Hawaii sounds nice- I have friends in Kauai, but it's a pretty big haul from GA, and our LA family ( stopover) doesn't seem too welcoming at the moment. If I was going to go that far in a plane I'd go to NZ or Australia, you know?

Come to the NW - Brookings, OR - my home town - one of the the biggest undiscovered beautiful spots on the earth. Go over and visit Crater Lake too - you've got to see that once in your life.

I'm visiting the blogs of people that posted on my sight and inviting them to sign up for a give-away I am having. No gimicks - just fun. It's my way of celebrating one year of blogging.

Happy new year Linda! Those are great spots for vacation. We've thought about the Keys a few times ourselves, Tuscany would be lovely (Heidi would know about that!). Southern spain is gorgeous, I was in Malaga/Marbella about 10 years ago and it was fabulous. Europe is always great because of the history and the places you can go in shorter times. Good luck with the decision!

I looked into the train, just for fun. I was thinking you had to transfer stations in NYC - apparently they changed that one since last I looked. I think it would be fun. but it cost at least as much as flying (if you opt for the roomette on the overnight legs) and takes the same 18 hours as driving. but I wouldn't have to keep an eye on the other idiots on the road. ;-)

PM- HA ha! the train she's talking about is to go home for Spring break from GA to NY. another trip. We're both from the Syracuse area, and I thought the "freedom" of a train trip might glorify a trip back. ATL airport adds at least 5 hours to air travel, and coach seats cramp my style.

Syracuse - glorified? Huh. Let me know how that works out. I haven't been able to glorify Rochester or Syracuse in the last 10 years and man, have I tried. (Skaneateles comes close to glorifying the 'cuse, but only if Doug's Fish Fry is open..)

Just sayin'...

Forget Hawaii - too far from the SE. Think Caribbean. St. John, St. Maarten, BVI. We adore the Caribbean. =) And you'll have an easy trip from the ATL.

Tuscany...I went a year and a half ago. It was *amazing*. I would go back in a heartbeat.
