It's all Greek to me.

Okay, back to the vacation. So, to recap... we got cheap tickets and went to three countries and one island.
From Georgia, USA to Madrid, Spain to Paris, France to Athens, Greece, to Crete, Greece.

Where our pool looked like this:
so you can imagine how difficult it was to get the kids to explore amazing sights like this:
The Acropolis

and this:

and this:
and this:

and this museum filled with statues you cannot pose by nor photograph with a flash- which we learned the hard way:

inside you can see this:
this:

 and even some of these:

We walked in the heat some more and found this:
ancient bath house ruins
played games with the ancients like this:

and ran around here:
That's the Panathinaiko Stadium, made entirely of white marble ( re-made, I should say, in 329BC). I have a chunk of marble on my shelf as proof.
The kids raced on the very same ground Olympians ran in 1870, 1875 and 1895. I was most amused by the figurines on the pillar. One side is a spry young Olympian, as his genitalia suggest... and on the other side, facing out is an old dude... as HIS genitalia suggest.

Tomorrow, We fly to Crete.

My brother just went to Greece. He said the lack of internet didn't kill his teenage daughter...But she thought it just might.

Internet was easy and everywhere.. as were really cool mobile phones.. with everyone offering free chargers/ charging access. It was the lack of flushable toilet paper that bugged my kids. Hahahaha.

Some day I will go to Greece, and I will stand on that ancient stage and perform some Electra. Or maybe a speech of Clytemnestra. something fabulous. And Greek. But, you know, translated. for an audience of random tourists. it will be awesome.
