Do I Have It All Backward? Or Am I Just a Planner?

Growing up, my parents didn't use the word, "planner." They used the word "dreamer."

After quite a few years of seeing my plans come halfway true (there is this thing about you wanting something to happen.. more than you actually trying to make that thing happen.)
And there's the whole, not now, later part of the equation.
But, it's true. I am a dreamer.

It's not a bad thing. It's another good thing.

I have a room in my house that is all blues and whites, along with three crates of accessories in the attic on the same theme, because one month a long time ago, I had the idea that I would decorate an entire house in just hues of blues and whites one day.
( I still believe I will.)

I have a file drawer dedicated to torn-out design mag pages, brochures from flooring, tile and paint stores, my own sketches and even three designer house plans. Whenever we'd buy a new house, I'd start a notebook on all changes needed to make each room perfect. I kept the pages as I accomplished each update.
( In the current house, a place I have the lived the longest EVER as an adult, each room has been done over twice- some three times.)
That means... I need a project.

Beach property. Preferably low maintenance: condo or townhome.

Fits the blue and white theme, right?
I already found some cool ideas- like this:

and this- which is the same porch couch my Grandma had

Of course, I like some crazy stuff too, like garage door walls:
and a hanging bed..
but with a smaller space, and all that time outside doing all the things I love... am thinking the most important things I will be concentrating on are:

and buying a toy like this to drive around and enjoy it all:

go ahead, call me a dreamer. I dare you.

Landscaping complete. Now raining in Georgia.

This is the front BEFORE. Actually AFTER husband paid a guy a grand to haul in dirt, lay sod and smooth out the Bermuda. Still, it wasn't very nice. Now it looks like this:

and this closer to the house, where a pine and a cherry tree were taken away, plus a lot of downed limbs between the houses:

In the back, our amazingly flat yard flanks 5 properties which can make it seen not too private, but the fence and the trees always gave us good cover, unfortunately, the overhanging trees were too much for the grass. This is before:

and after

Then there was the middle bed, that fronted the putting green and hid the corner compost pile where the winter bunnies live. I wanted to pull it all out and put in a pool. But this isn't our forever house. Overgrown before:

now:
where the putting green used to be:
back side of bed, replanted:
With the sprinklers, most of this will be easy to maintain. All we need now is more sod to finish off the right side and a few monthly visits from Jorge. I'm pleased with my first attempt at landscape GC. More pleased that I didn't have to do it myself. If it took 10 guys 24 hours to do this.... what would it have taken me?

Reverse Psychology

It never fails. If I want it to rain, I just have to pay to have my car washed- or purchase a sprinkler system.
The Georgia Drought should have made me feel guilty to order and plan the install of an irrigation system, but I lived in CA during worse drought conditions where we were advised to and later earned kudos from our water department when we took two minute showers and drank bottled water.
SO, what's the difference in me stopping all baths, using bottled water, shortening shower times-- all reducing water usage from inside my house and instead watering my lawn, killing insects and keeping dirt, dust and dead grass debris out of the air?

Watering my lawn should be the least of my illegal activities.

Yes, after years of lawn maintenance people, years of me dragging ineffectual sprinklers over my lawn, only to have hundreds of dollars of fertilizer and grass seed blow away or fail to germinate because of poor watering, I decided to bite the bullet. In the next few weeks, we will have irrigation, landscaping and tree removal. We might have a decent lawn for the first time. Next year, I'll have to work on hiring the Mexicans for maintenance, as my gift to the hubby.
Then, as reverse psychology works, we'll probably rent out this house to some anti-gardeners and see it all go to shit.
