St. Maarten Monkey Noflingpu

My son is allowed to request one end of the year gift if he makes report card A's all year, as is my daughter.
My son asked for a monkey.

Son, you aren't getting a baby Capuchin.
But Mom, remember how nice the pet monkey was at our hotel?
Remember the gross stuff in the bottom of his enclosure?
Oh, yeah. So, can I get an ATV?

Sun Setting on Summer Vacation

Yes, like an orange napkin sunset, so are my feelings for the return of school. Under the one palm tree, I will miss the flexible schedule, when dinner is a sandwich and a freeze pop. In the other palm tree, I will enjoy having unadulterated peace and solitude for 8 hours a day.
Ah, orange napkin, you are half in the glass.

Preferably one without maintenance, and one with a cute French dude who will repeat the word motorboat in his cute little accent all day long. as in, "Eet is ohkay, eef zee children cannot geet back to shore, EYE 'ave a mohterboot and eye will get zem een my mohterboot. Now, let me get un peu du vin."

Snorkeling around Sandy Island we found a shipwreck from a hurricane. I love how "I was Here." has changed over the years.

coolest place to eat lunch, ever.

This ferry boat ride was more of a fast 5 minute motor boat, except for the part where the guy lost his hat and we had to go back for it. Some people swim out to the island for lunch, and some, like us, drink our rum punch while floating in the water under and around the dock, counting reef fish and adding a little more organic material to the sea. They speak French here and when Piper was stung by a jellyfish, the girl kept telling us stories of her own "she-fish" stings, as she applied an ointment which seemed to work better than the meat tenderizer Colt had to use on Tybee Island.

Because you have to start somewhere and after 18 hours of travel, this is what you need to see.
La Plage Grand Case, on the french side, bien sur.

Great place to stay. 2 bedrooms upstairs with 2 full baths, a sitting room, full kitchen and 1/2 bath downstairs, plus patio to waterfront and balcony with view of cove and beyond. french waterboys that bring drinks when you raise a flag, paddle boats that sweep your kids to sea and a fab restaurant with real french pastries and espresso to DIE for.
